Worldcass Guy Plays Catch-up
June 18, 2007
Worldclass Guy has only four lifetime starts, but trainer Jim Campbell likes the colt’s potential. His mother, Worldclass Victory, is a full sister to 1996 Horse of the Year and Hambletonian winner Continentalvictory. His father is Conway Hall.
“He’s got a lot of work ahead of him,” Campbell said. “But he’s a real nice colt and if everything stays OK, I think he can have a really good year. He goes around a half-mile track well and I don’t think a mile track will hurt him at all.”
Campbell is in his first year back as a trainer after running a pizzeria for most of 2006. Worldclass Guy, owned by Arlene and Jules Siegel, is eligible to the Hambletonian, a race Campbell won with the Siegels in 1995 with Tagliabue.
“It felt good to get back to racing, and it’s always a good thing if you have that shot,” Campbell said. “A lot can happen between now and August.”
