World Trottng Derby Set for 2007

January 16, 2007

The $550,000 World Trotting Derby and the $125,000 World Filly Trotting Derby will be raced at Du Quoin, Ill. on Saturday Sept. 1, 2007 -- with a few changes, the Illinois Department of Agriculture announced. There will be no heats, and the races will be contested as single dashes of one mile, with the top-12 2007 money winners who are entered to start.

As well, all horses, regardless of where they finish, will receive a purse check at least equivalent to one-half of one percent of the purse -- nearly $3,000 if the race pays its estimated purse.

Nominations for both the open and filly divisions--$750 and $350--will close on February 15. The complete racing conditions for both races, including a full payment schedule, will be published in the U.S. Trotting Association Stakes Guide.
