Yves Filion Nabs Career Victory #4,000

Yves Filion hit a milestone Saturday night, March 4 by nabbing his 4,000th career win in the fifth race, a $6,000 claiming trot at Hippodrome de Montreal. Filion was in the bike behind 15-1 shot, Sallys Valentine for his milestone win as she trotted from off the pace and held on in the stretch for a 2:00 flat clocking by just a nose. Trained and owned by Denitza Petrova of Sainte-Sophie, Quebec, it was the five-year-old daughter of Guided Speed’s first win in six tries this year. Filion, a 59 year-old Quebec resident has $23.3 million in career earnings. The blue, white, and red clad horseman is best known for his standout pacers Runnymede Lobell and Goliath Bayama.
