Spotlight on Yannick

May 9, 2007

Yannick Gingras, on driving JK CU Later last week: "He (J K CU Later-3rd in the Lis Mara 1:49 mile) was REAL good last week-I didn't have any room or I definitely would have been second. My horse could have gone 3 or 4/5ths of a second faster-but I know Brian (Sears) and Lis Mara could have also. He's really feeling good right now. This week-without Lis Mara in there-might be a good time to showcase him a little bit."

Yannick on his Monday night at Yonkers, when he won the last five races, 4 of the 5 NOT favored, ALL five for Mickey Burke (trainer of JK CU Later too!)

"It was unbelievable-it was one of those things where everything just kind of fell into place. Doing it for the Burkes was great-you show their horses some racetrack and they take it from there. All five came from off the pace, and none of the five was higher than third choice in the morning line."

That makes TWO things that Yannick has done this year that NO OTHER driver has done in 2007: 5 straight wins-one track-one night--SAME TRAINER 4 or more wins-same day or night-five DIFFERENT tracks!! 4-Meadowlands 4-Pocono 5-Monticello (three times) 5-Yonkers (May 7) 5-Freehold (twice)

Yannicks' Five Straight Monday Yonkers winners: 6th Race-Sand Hill N $25.00 (7th choice) by 1 and 1/4 lengths 7th Race-Perdition $9.00 (3rd choice) by 3 lengths 8th Race-Cerignola $18.40 (5th choice) by a nose 9th Race-Dragons Yankee $3.40 (Favorite) by half a length 10th Race-Keystone Resident $5.00 (Second choice) by 5 and 1/4 lengths.
