Worthy Boy

Worthy Boy raced at 2 and 3, finishing second in the 1943 Hambletonian won by Volo Song. He was owned throughout his racing career by Henry Warwick.

His sire, Volomite, was a double-gaited producer--generating some 305 trotters and 304 pacers during his breeding career.

Worthy Boy emerged from the trotting line--and in turn produced Star's Pride, who would go on to produce Super Bowl, Nevele Pride, Ayres, Hickory Pride, Lindy's Pride, and many other top notch stallions whose influence on the trotting standard was huge.

In fact, many harness historians consider Star's Pride to be one of the greatest trotting progenitors of all time.

During his stallion career, Worthy Boy produced 574 registered foals, (282 colts and 292 fillies), with 520 total starters (205 pacers-seven in 2:00 or faster & $3,509,036) and (315 trotters-six in 2:00 or faster & $4,636,973) for a total of $8,146,009 in foal earnings.

Worthy Boy passed away at his home at Castleton Farm in late December, 1969, just a few days before his 30th birthday.
