A variety of careers exist in harness racing for women. Challenging and demanding, the women involved in the sport have to be willing to work long hours, in all types of climates and in a variety of circumstances. Being involved in harness racing does not constitute a typical nine-to-five day, and can involve difficult physical work for women working as grooms and trainers, to late-night hours of tedious fact-checking of statistics and last-minute preparations for million dollar events by racing writers and publicists. For the most part, those involved in harness racing are working when most other folks are away from their professions.
