Windy City Pace Field Now Set
November 13, 2006
The 24th edition of the $250,000 Windy City Pace will be contested on Friday, November 17 at Maywood Park. The field was drawn Friday night (Nov 10th) at Maywood and includes seven of the nation's top sophomore pacers. From the rail out: My Boy David, Royal Man, Jereme's Jet, Civil Attack, Ab's Beach Boy, Bono Bests, JandJ Art.
The likely favorite s Genesis Racing Stable’s Jereme’s Jet, the 2005 Dan Patch winner as the sport’s top two-year-old pacing colt when he earned over $1 million under the care of Maywood Park based trainer Tom Harmer.
Jereme’s Jet chalked up victories in 6 of his 7 freshman starts, including triumphs in such prestigious stake championships as the $840,000 Metro (Mohawk), the $593,032 Governor’s Cup (Woodbine) and the $575,000 Breeders Crown (Meadowlands).
The homebred Western Hanover colt, out of the former Illinois multi-stakes millionaire mare Ohyouprettything, is 5-for-13 this season with stakes victories in the $100,000 Meadowlands Pace Consolation, a $50,000 Review (Springfield) and a $48,000 Hayes (DuQuoin). Outside posts proved costly when Jereme’s Jet went unplaced in the Little Brown Jug and last month’s Breeders Crown Final.
My Boy David returns to oval where in October of 2005 he set a track record with a 1:52.4 clocking in the $65,000 Cardinal Final against fellow state-breds and then went to breeze in the $140,000 Abe Lincoln against open company freshmen.
This season the son of Cole Muffler was second best to Artistic Fella in the $1 million Meadowlands Pace and to Life Guard On Duty in the $272,000 American National Final prior to his world record 1:47.4 mile at Springfield in August, the fastest ever for a three-year-old pacing gelding. My Boy David a month later won the $180,000 Langley Super Night Championship for Schaumburg, IL owner Shirley Le Vin.
