Street Dancer Wins $66,000 Violet Final
Wednesday, October 12, 2005
Street Dancer just got up in the final strides to score a 1:55.1 victory in the $66,000 Violet Stakes Wednesday night at Maywood Park. The Nelson Willis trainee, who is owned by former Governor Jim Edgar, Tery Rathgeber, Ted Lock and James Reynolds, sat back until the late going and overtook the long-striding Peine Bubbles (Tim Tetrick), who had led throughout the mile after leaving from post six.
"Before the scratch (of My Metallic) tonight I thought she had a very good chance to be second in here," Driver Dale Hiteman noted. "This filly really impressed me last week in her elimination. Tonight she went a great mile and just dug in all the way to the wire. She's improved so much in the last three weeks it is amazing. She's a green mare who has gone from 2:00 to 1:55 in a matter of a few weeks. Those few races in between those miles have done her a world of good."
Street Dancer is a daughter of Richess Hanover who had $4,150 on her card prior to her Violet victory. She now has two wins and a second in four career starts. Peine Bubbles (Tim Tetrick was second with Free (Dean Magee) third. Fractions: :28.1, :57.4, 1:26
