Osvaldo Formia
Osvaldo Formia, 69, who was born in Cordoba, Argentina, came to the United States as the groom of trotter Thomas Atkyns, who was invited to compete in the 1969 Roosevelt International.
When horse and groom were about to leave Argentina, there was a minor revolution that delayed their departure for 17 days.

Due to the delay, Thomas Atkyns could not compete in the race, but Formia liked the United States so much that he decided to remain. Harmonious & John Campbell
Formia assisted Hall of Fame trainer Howard Beissinger in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and was the caretaker of two Hambletonian winners, Lindy's Pride in 1969 and Speedy Somolli in 1978. Probe & William Fahy
When one of Beissinger’s clients, Frank Antonacci of Lindy Farms in Connecticut, formed a private racing stable, he hired Formia and they teamed to win two Hambletonians, with Harmonious [1990] and Probe [deadheated with Park Avenue Joe in 1989].
Formia now trains a small stable from his home base in Delray Beach, Florida.
