Carl Jamieson

Carl Jamieson was born on December 17, 1950 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, and now resides in Princeton, Ontario, Canada. He wears the family driving and training colors of green, brown and gold and is well known in harness racing circles throughout North America.

Carl Jamieson’s father raced horses, and was the one who got him into the game. Carl first raced horses at Sackville Downs, Truro Raceway and Tartan Downs before moving to Ontario in the mid-1980s. He first raced primarily at Flamboro Downs when he came to Ontario, and has perennially been a top trainer in the Ontario Sire Stakes program since his arrival in the province.

The main focus of the Jamieson stable over the years has been to develop and race young horses, and along with training,  Carl did a lot of driving from the 1980s into the late 1990s, and had notched over 1,300 driving victories heading into the 2007 season.

Elegant Killean was a top horse for Jamieson in the 1990s, and the daughter of Run The Table won O’Brien Awards for her 2- and 3-year-old seasons in 1994 and 1995.

Carl collected his first O’Brien Award in 2006, taking home the hardware in the Horsemanship division. The biggest win of Jamieson’s career came on Sept. 2, 2006 at Mohawk when Appleoosa Hanover won the $754,500 Shes A Great Lady Stakes with son Jody Jamieson in the driver’s seat. Carl also trained his fifth Battle Of Waterloo winner in 2006, as Warrawee Ideal captured Grand River Raceway’s $300,000 event. Warrawee Ideal also won a division of the Nassagaweya Stakes at Mohawk and finished second in the Metro Pace consolation. Jamieson also drove his trainee Banner Yankee to victory in the prestigious Gold Cup and Saucer that same year at Charlottetown Driving Park in Prince Edward Island.
