Eddie Lohmeyer

Renowned horseman Eddie Lohmeyer is one of the most respected harness horse trainer-drviers involved in the sport. Based at Winner's International Farm in Columbus, New Jersey, Lohmeyer breeds and competes Standardbreds in the Garden State and in New York and Pennsylvania.

Hailing from a strong harness racing background, Lohmeyer has cousins in Hall of Fame driver Cat Manzi and Monticello publicity guru John Manzi. As well, he's married to top veterinarian Patty Hogan, DVM, who has handled such high profile cases as those involving Smarty Jones and other top equine athletes.

Eddie was born in Bridgeport, Conn on October 29, 1943 and quickly adopted the stable family colors of red, green and white. He first emerged on the scene as a successful catch-driver in the 1970s and in the past several years has turned many of the driving duties over to cousin Cat.

Lohmeyer has sent eight horses postward in Breeders Crown competition over the years, including the favored Pacific Fella in the 1998 sophomore Crown Pace at The Meadowlands and Loch Katrine in the $500,000 Breeders Crown 3-year-old filly trot in 2007, also at The Big M. Pacific Fella finished third to Red Bow Tie in that event.

Eddie and wife Patty reside at their farm in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.
