Race 1: 75,000 CL (4) PREMIERONBROADWAY showed good improvement in first start for Burke, closed willingly after traffic issues, may choose to leave. (5) PRINCE VINCE Rucker reclassifies after even effort, major closing threat (3) OLIVER CUSTIS we know speed is his game, raised back up in claiming value after good 2nd to Eaton Road Kill (10) ST GEORGE ISLAND still winless on the year but on the improve, good closing 2nd to Silver Flash, will have to leave for position.
Race 2: HAMBLETONIAN OAKS Elim (D) (5) JERSEY GAL Lare is still winless this meet but Sears’ choice over the #9, impressive qualifier at Rosecroft, easily won division of Elegantimage on 6/10 (2) MARGARITA NIGHTS on the improve since leaving Canada and addition of trotting hobbles, Jack must get her into the race earlier (6) PINK RIBBONS Millers’ choice over Solveig has improved since utilizing her early speed (7) SOLVEIG has not regained her 2 year old form, but gets services of Ledford and she may turn it around and qualify.
Race 3: HAMBLETONIAN ELIM (D) (5) KEN WARKENTIN 2 year old champ threw in a big one last time off the scratch sick and appears to be peaking at the right time (8) STRONG YANKEE is still winless this year but we still have faith in this horse’s talent and in the master Smedshammer to have him ready, good closing 2nd to Classic Photo 2 weeks ago (3) VIVID PHOTO gets major test but Hammer speedball has won 7 in a row. (7) SELF PROFESSED only bad races when used hard, dangerous with any sort of trip.
Race 4: HAMBLETOIAN OAKS Elim (D) (5) JALOPY gave good effort in NJSS Final on 6/23, no shot in race after that, handily won nw2 on the 21st, upset chance with top NYSS driver Jeff Gregory (8) LADYMATIC tired after uncovered effort in the Miller Final, Cat may chose to leave (3) TWIN B SENORITA 2 YO NYSS champ gets the important switch to Morrill who may be able to throttle her early speed (1) FLIRTIN MISS had to perfect trip in the Miller Final and didn’t deliver, gets the rail which may mean 1st over and risky morning line favorite.
Race 5: HAMBLETONIAN ELIM (D) (9) CLASSIC PHOTO has done everything asked of him and is in our opinion till now the favorite for the Hambletonian, draws the worst of it and probably wont be used to hard to qualify (1) VINO CAMIELLE was the last horse to beat Classic Photo in a Goodtimes Stake elim on 6/11, prime position to sit or Jack may try quick quarter brush (4) NEW YORK YANK talented horse has picked the worst time to develop a breaking problem, needs to step up now with the services of Manzi who will probably take him to the front (8) MUSCLE MEMORY gets the return of Sears who was aboard all 3 wins this year, sharp 27. 3 close should have no trouble qualifying.
Race 6: HAMBLETONIAN OAKS ELIM (D) (4) BLUR hasn’t raced since 6/18 but Sears stays loyal to Smedshammer and chooses over #6 Flawless Bluestone, so will we (1) MAGENTA HALL we like this trotter’s closing kick and she finally draws well (6) FLAWLESS BLUESTONE gets Miller back and was impressive last week with uncovered win (7) HER CULESE was very impressive early in her campaign, some tough trips recently, qualified well and can surprise for dangerous Pelling/Pierce.
Race 7: nw 17,500 (4) LCB an angle players gold mine, drops, 3rd start of layoff, 1st start off Harder claim and gets Sears (1) GEORGIA PACIFIC Millers’ choice of 3 hasn’t been very impressive here at the BigM but finds a good spot to rebound (5) GLOBAL SCALE drops from tough claiming group and is a watch list horse being parked out in fast half (10) JOVIAL JOKER N ships into Banca’s barn from Balmoral and sports some pretty impressive uncovered efforts, can be a factor if Brennan can coax some early speed to get into contention. Race 8: CLASSIC DISTAFF FINAL 1 1/16 Mile (D) (6) CAROLINA SUNSHINE got locked in last week, should be leaving for position behind Burning Point (5) BURNING POINT controls the pace with this short field but probably wont be able to fend of Carolina Sunshine this week (4) ALWAYS CAM improved with even effort last week but we still have faith and one that would benefit from any hot fractions up front .
Race 9: CLASSIC OAKS FINAL 1 1/16 Mile (D) (6) HOUSETHATRUTHBUILT gutsy uncovered effort in improved performance and look for her to be on the move early and control the action in small upset play (5) PEACEFUL WAY stormed home in 27.2 equaling world and track record for trotting mares, even more dangerous with added distance but could be at the mercy of pace up front (1) WINDYLANE HANOVER closed well 4th over out the mile and look for Campbell to save a lot of ground from the rail and to be a factor with her closing kick.
Race 10: wo 25,00 LT (5) WHOSURBOY always has done well on the ship in and basically a class drop from the Open up north (7) TIMESAREACHANGING disappointed a bit in Haughton Series but qualified sharply and a major closing threat with these (2) ARMBRO ANIMATE went 3 wide closing for 3rd in Dr No’s fast mile (1) TOWN CHAMPION really turned it around in the midwest and comes off sharp qualifier.
Race 11: TROTTING CLASSIC FINAL 1 1/16 Mile (D) (8) SAND VIC sharp close 3rd over in 27.3 to almost get Mr. Muscleman, may chose can leave for position and is the major closing threat in another minor upset (2) MR MUSCLEMAN was in need of last after 3 week absence, Pierce says he will be sharper tonight, will probably look to brush early and dominate but added distance may prove his downfall (1) HEZ STRIKING is on the improve can stay close from the rail with his early speed and grab a piece (5) CASH HALL tired after going uncovered, dangerous with a trip+.
Race 12: PACING CLASSIC FINAL 1 1/16 Mile (D) (4) METROPOLITAN charged home fastest of all last week 4th over in 26.2 in improved effort with Ledford and can spring the minor upset (9) PONDER has to like his chances without Dr No in the field but will have to leave for position (1) ARTICULATOR we have noted his steady improvement and can be a factor from the rail (7) BOULDER CREEK broke at the start losing a shoe, will probably look to leave this week but must contend with major speed inside of him.
Race 13: nw 20,000 (7) HOP SING sharp score and stays in same class (8) PACIFIC RENEGADE scratch sick last week but prior form was excellent (4) WHERETHEMONEYWENTN Sears’ choice over the #5, attacked with big uncovered move and tired late (3) ATTORNEY GENERAL N couldn’t win off the 2nd over trip and may be forced to go uncovered this week
Race 14: nw 17,500 (8) CARLSPUR small track specialist has had limited success here but is much better than these and gets the services of Pierce (5) DOUBLEDOWN HANOVER good closing 3rd to couple of tough horses (3) ALLNIGHTCARDGAME caught behind dead horse, closed well in 26.3 (7) VILLAGE JATE N thought I would never say but risky morning line favorite play with Campbell and his closing style.
