Race 1: nw 17,500 (7) JOVIAL JOKER N outside the mile and good close from post #10 in 1st Meadowlands start, should be in line for decent cover trip (9) LCB disappointed as the favorite in 1st start for Harder getting caught inside, has the early speed (5) SANTASTIC’S PAN has been racing over his head at the BigM, drops from the Classic Final where he was the longest shot on the board, tough trip shuffled to last, can rebound on major class drop (4) DAVID’S RAINBOW Gingras choice over the #2, has tactical early speed and may work out a trip.
Race 2: 75,000 CL (3) PICK A TRAIL closed well pacing 53.3 middle half to get into contention, gets switch to Pierce and should offer some decent value (10) PREMIERONBROADWAY faded after 1st over effort in first start for Burke, improvement expected and hope to see his early speed with usual daylight speed favoring bias half (1) BRADLEY HALL slight class drop from tough trip from post #10, may be able to get into the fray earlier from the rail (7) ST GEORGE ISLAND tries to get off the schneid in final BigM start, good close from tough spot.
Race 3: GOLDEN GIRLS – Mares FFA (D) (3) LOYAL OPPOSITION no shot in last with bad cover and slow middle half, will look to upset with early brush from inside (7) BURNING POINT solid 2 move effort in the Classic Distaff and is 3 for 3 with Pierce and of course, headed to the front (4) CAROLINA SUNSHINE may leave and get the trip on Burning Point.
Race 4: MISTLETOE SHALEE - FINAL (D) (2) CABRINI HANOVER looks to be at least temporarily over her early season problems, huge effort in last almost coming do a dead halt when interfered with and is the choice over Just Wait Kate (1) JUST WAIT KATE will probably brush early to the lead, hard to fault and we may have to go the straight trifecta route in this one (5) CHOTAT MILK had some traffic problems and offered willing pace in her elim to qualify and can upset with some help.
Race 5: wo 25,000 LT (6) ADMIRAL’S EXPRESS we have been waiting for an appearance by the ‘Grey Gladiator’ at the Meadowlands for a long time, one of our all-time favorites is the fastest grey in the history of the sport and also the richest, failed as the heavy favorite in the Hazel Park Invitational last week losing to his younger full brother, should appreciate the switch back to the big track and regular driver MacDonell (1) CANYON WIND gets reverse post switch, sharp pace on both ends (26.3 LQ) and usually likes to brush early from the inside. (4) TOWN CHAMPION aided by post and trip in last, may have to rough it this time (5) CARLSPUR was one of out big plays last week and responded with life mark to destroy weaker, may try to leave again to get a trip behind the ‘Grey Gladiator.’
Race 6: OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES – 3YO C&G (D) (4) ROCKNROLL HANOVER may be a good race to just watch as Pelling says he is sharp and ready to go (3) AMERICAN IDEAL finally receives some post relief and may be on the move early, clearly the threat to Rocknroll Hanover (11) WITH ANTICIPATION should be able to get off well as the horse he is following out possesses some good early speed (7) RUNOVER FEELING Ledford’s choice of 3 comes off a strong pocket win in PASS at Pocono.
Race 7: HAMBLETONIAN OAKS – FINAL (D) (8) BLUR was a little short off the cover trip in needed race but Smedshammer says she will be tighter today and Sears stays (4) JALOPY impressive front end effort and is peaking at the right time and may look to fire out seeking pocket trip behind #7 (2) FLAWLESS BLUESTONE closer draws well after going 3 wide to win closing in 28.4 in another sharp effort (7) PINK RIBBONS a watch list horse for brushing past quarter to fast half and may be able to carry her speed all the way with anticipated daytime speed bias.
Race 8: THE HAMBLETONIAN – FINAL (D) (5) CLASSIC PHOTO has been our favorite for the Hambo for a long time and no reason to change after impressive uncovered effort, can make his own trip and is taking similar path as last years triple crown winner Windsongs Legacy (yes, we also picked him to win last year) (3) STRONG YANKEE Sears chooses over Muscle Memory, closed well in tough spot in 28.4 and Sears mentioned that he was the right line pretty bad, look for Smedshammer to make the adjustments and threat to upset with a trip and perhaps some value in the exacta’s (6) VIVID PHOTO looks to keep his win streak alive, is a watch list horse for brush past quarter trotting fast middle half in splits faster than many of the pacing races last week in fastest elimination, early speed always dangerous in the big trotting races (8) MUSCLE BOUND closed fastest of any, 3 wide in 28.2 for tough Hambletonian combination of Gurfein/Lachance, post hurts as Gurfein has conceded him a one-dimensional closer, needs some help but can get a major piece.
Race 9: OPEN TROT (3) MYSTICAL SUNSHINE gets her chance to shine without having to deal with Peaceful Way of Housethatruthbuilt (4) ABBEY CRAIG versatile mare flashed good speed on both ends in last (8) MUSCLES MARINARA has not looked like himself and may revert back to prior from sans D-barn (5) GREAT GEORGE TWO not eligible for the Hambo and faces older but this unfashionably bred 3 year old is tough on the front end now aided with hopples.
Race 10: NAT RAY – FFA TROT INV. (D) (6) MR MUSCLEMAN another sharp uncovered score for the worlds top trotter and looks like it may have to be cold exacta time again. (1) SAND VIC no shot excess cover 4th over in the Classic, stays close to the pace from the rail and probably only one with legitimate shot at an upset (5) HELLAVA HUSH turned in improved effort with sharp close, will probably look for cover trip.
Race 11: nw4 (4YO&U) (2) TRUE FORCE Brennan’s choice of 4 beat Rocknroll Hanover in his qualifier with huge 26.0 last quarter and should be brushing early (4) THEREDANDPANLINES has been off since the NJSS Final, improvement in last qualifier with added lasix, Sears should be firing out (5) WESTERN PRINCE claimed by the astute Wing on the improve showing good pace on both ends (3) QUICKSILVER SHARK as been changing his racing style showing early speed bad faded in his miles, may revert back to closing form and should get decent trip no matter what style he chooses.
Race 12: US PACING CHAMPIONSHIP FFA (D) (2) DR NO returns after not being eligible to the Classic Final, looks like brush and crush from this spot (3) METROPOLITAN lost cover when Ponder cleared and still closed well in first start for Harder (7) BOULDER CREEK Classic Final champ will probably look to leave for position behind Dr No (1-Entry) PONDER tired after long brush in the Classic Final and would have won at a mile, draws outside his main rivals again and will benefit the most with any suicide fractions up front.
Race 13: OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES - 3YO C&G (D) (3) CAM’S FOOL Campbell should be more aggressive in this spot after no shot in last (2) ALLAMERICAN INCA has little chance in the MPace Final drawing poorly, confidence building win at Pocono in the PASS (8) WIRELESS HANOVER fast closing effort in the Burlington stakes against the suddenly tough P Forty Seven on 6/5, showed some early speed in last race at Harrington and should be a great value play (1) SYNCRO’S Z TAM don’t know what happened to Pat Lachance’s barn this meet but and this horse since shipping in but will give him another shot for a piece from the rail.
Race 14: nw 20,000 (1) SILVER FLASH faces a couple of tough ones here but has been very sharp last two with lasix, gets post relief and Rucker’s last shot for the trainer title (8) EATON ROAD KILL drops from the Classic where he was locked in with pace, Dube will have to fire him out (5) ARMBRO ACQUIRE makes 1st start for Silva and 1st time lasix, dangerous combination after tough trip with Lachance (7) PACIFIC RENEGADE offered good pace from tough spot in 1st race off scratch sick.
Race 15: nw 17,500 (10) LANDMARK HALL Dube’s choice of 3 drops and can take the closer to a great BigM meet (3) UP FRONT OHIO gets post break after really no shot getting used hard in 2nd quarter just to get into contention, major closing threat (9) MONUKE is on the improve but will have to leave also (5) TONI’S FUTURE Brennan’s choice of 3 showed improvement tiring off of big move.
