Race One: $40,000 Claiming Pace (5) BATTLESHOE BOY nice pocket trip win first time Silva behind pressured pace setter but will offer little in the way of betting value. (8) FRANCO CATAPULT N obviously not good signs as he debuts for 10k less in claiming price off poor performance in first start in the Oakes barn, but we trust him to race him where he belongs. (1) IN HIGH GEAR offered good pace on both ends of the mile on the dropdown and may be sitting in ideal position. (10) CRAZY FOR EVER off poorly but still paced last ¾ ‘s in 1:21.1, major threat on the drop and if Pierce can get coax some early speed out of him.
Race Two: $30,000 Claiming Pace (5) HENSCHKE N victim of tough trips from tough post, gets needed post relief and was Sears’ choice, closed last half in 54.2 in fast race and will just need some decent pace up front. (2) WILDCAT FEVER game front end score but he has been to inconsistent to consider play at a short price. (9) FIRST AWAY paced 54.2 middle half just to keep up in fast race, threat if Cat can get him in good position early. (1) MACIE THE FARMER returns at reduced price after some needed freshening but still another risky proposition.
Race Three: $75,000-$100,000 Claiming Handicap Pace (1) LANDMARK HALL no factor in the Open, probably on the move early. (5) TWIN B GAMBIT 3rd over and flashed his customary late kick debuts for the dangerous Oakes barn. (7) CHEWY GROSS half mile track expert raced evenly against a decent group of winners over and will be out looking for the trip. (8) MIDNIGHT GAMBIT debuts for Robin Schadt off pocket win and heady Pierce drive on the drop but think he will be coming off the pace this week.
Race Four: Non-winners of $15,750 (D) (7) YANKEE LARIAT drops off tough effort parked past the quarter to fast half. (4) TOO MUCH GUN reclaimed by Boudon after game uncovered effort and gets in through the also eligible condition. (5) DREAM BELIEVER steps off ez pocket trip win on the barn switch. (1) ALL MY STYLE N expect Miller to be more aggressive from the gate as he got off poorly from post #1 but did finish with sharp 27.2 close.
Race Five: $100,00 Claiming 4&5-Year-olds (3) PREMIERONBROADWAY debuts for Ginsburg off the claim and Jim Pantaleano returns as a driver, horse got parked past the half in pressured mile and should be firing out and just may get the perfect trip at a decent price. (2) MT VERNON HANOVER long mile on the rim and got outkicked late, gets post relief but may have to go the uncovered route. (5) PRINCE VINCE didn’t fire in the winners over but major threat with anticipated lively cover trip. (8) GLORS BOYS tired after pulling the pocket, gets Pierce and will be firing out.
Race Six: Non-winners of $15,750 (D) (7) SIX OF DIAMONDS sharp win in first start in Ledford barn and easily can take another step up. (3) LCB drops from when last scene here, good efforts in the Freehold Opens, major threat will his early speed. (6) HOP SING Oakes drops him off aggressive efforts from Campbell as the beaten favorite, looking for him to revert to closing tactics. (10) SPIRIT OF A SHARK got parked past the half in good tightener loosing to pocket sitter, Sears will float him out early.
Race Seven: Non-winners of $27,500 (D) (10) THREE QUARTER CAM went three wide off dying cover to get up in good effort in first start for Oakes, look for Miller to fire out. (8) ARMBRO ACQUIRE drops from the Open where he needed that first race back and is a watch list horse for 26.1 close in fast last quarter with no shot. (6) PATCH ADAMS N makes his 2nd start off short layoff after some traffic issues and expect Sears to be more aggressive. (4) ART MAKER was not involved in the Open last week but previous offered sharp sweep of the field and gets Pierce back.
Race Eight: Non-winners of three, 5-year-olds & Under (D) (2) LUCKY LIFE parked past the half from post #9 in ez win. (9) BIG SHAM drops considerably from pressing fast pace and look for Tetrick to fire him out early. (8) O’ ROURKE THREE a watch list horse for 26.4 close in fast last quarter. (1) TENNANT IN CHIEF has had a couple of tough trips but should benefit by the move to the rail.
Race Nine: $40,000 Claiming Pace (4) IMTHATKINDACAM a watch list horse for dueling in fast fractions in game fashion. (2) ALL FOR EWE woke up in big fashion pacing last ¾’s in 1:21.4 and setting new life mark, back up in class and could be this good. (1) DITCHEMS BROTHER went 1st over which is not his favorite trip, sits this time. (7) CAMS PRIMETIME drops again and is major threat if he minds his manners and can get the lead, but is always a risky proposition.
Race Ten: Non-winners of $10,000 (5) EXECUJET outclassed by the top pacers at Woodbine but Sears should be able to take these down the road. (2) DAISYS BOY hopefully turning the corner for one of our favorite BigM performers, improved effort with 27.2 close in fast race and Pierce (who drove his famous mom) stays. (1) JILLIBY SPIRIT N drops from decent 4th over closing effort and seems to do well from this post. (7) LIGHT AND SOUND N sharp 27.2 close from dead last at the ¾’s in fast mile in first USA start, license to improve but vulnerable morning line favorite.
Race 11: $30,000 Claiming (1) TYPHOID is a major threat for a trip with speed and the rail on the barn change. (5) ROYAL KNIGHT 3rd start off layoff and is our WOW angle (up in class without a win) horse tonight. (3) GOTTA FEELING also eligible for WOW horse consideration after big effort in fast mile but feel he will bounce off the barn change from Silva. (8) FOX VALLEY SNAFFLE went a game uncovered effort as the beaten favorite, Manzi will probably look to float him out for early position.
Race 12: Non-winners of $7,500 (1) SURREPTITIOUS Brennan stays in 1st start for Cassar who astutely drops him in conditions after failing as the favorite. (3) CITY ROGUE N offered rare early speed and faded, will race this one off the pace. (5) STEADY WACKEN tired after going uncovered but should get a better trip from this spot. (4) FRESH INGREDIENT N offered even pace in Silver D Moon’s quick mile at Freehold, returns at reduced level since last seen here.
