Race One: Non-winners of $10,000 Lifetime (4) JILLIBY SPIRIT A offered huge closing kick in second start here, Pierce’s choice over the #1 and respected by Dave Brower as he then changed him to morning line favorite from 7-2. (5) SPANDREL HANOVER left and tucked in tough group last week, should fire right to the front in this spot with lack of gate speed in here. (1) NIGHT MYSTERY gets Campbell, drops off improved effort second start of layoff against good group of $50,000 claimer four-year-olds.
Race Two: $30,000 Claimers (7) JACCKA SEELSTER N Rucker smartly drops off no chance efforts off slow halves. (5) HARE BREATH HARRY versatile horse has raced well off the layoff. (2) LEADING CHOICE N drops off of big effort in second start back. (8) DINERO speedster part of the Oakes barn claiming spree but hasn’t always performed well in detention.
Race Three: Non-winners of $15,000 (1) UP FRONT OHIO faces older foes but the half mile expert’s only race on the big track was a huge 25.4 close off of slow half, should be close throughout from the rail. (5) THIRD STRAIGHT gets needed class drop, previous race on 11/27 offered good pace when free. (3) IMAGE OF DAWN drops back after packing it in after the shuffle.
Race Four: $40,000 Claimers (3) ARTS CAM Miler’s surprising choice over the #8, paced last half in 55.2 facing tough group of nw11,00’s. (2) FRANCO TURBROOKE N Cassar’s stable warming up and this guy closed in a rapid 27.0 in second start off the short layoff. (7) CAM ST PARTNERS Pierce’s choice of 3 has been very sharp since the ship from Balmoral, steps up a notch again after sharp sweep. (10) WESTON EARL A drops after rather lackluster effort but previous was very game effort getting parked pass the half, can flash his early foot with Campbell.
Race Five: Open (2) MAKE IT BRIEF dominating in debut with fast last quarter for the Odds On Racing Team. (5) LIFE SOURCE couldn’t catch the top choice after a short rest period. (1) ST GEORGE ISLAND tries the Open after the Russo claim, may be sitting a great trip from this post.
Race Six: Non-winners of $25,000 (5) DAYLON TROOPER good speed on both ends of the mile on his third start back and was Miller’s choice of three. (6) FALSE ALARM tries the high condition ranks after offering sharp speed when free, on the improve. (2) PATCH ADAMS N big effort parked past the half, but may be forced to ruff it again. (7) CAMS FAST GUN having a big season and won on Hambo day in similar scenario shipping in sharp, can't discount.
Race Seven: Non-winners of $10,000 (9) ALL STAR BLUE JEAN third stat back, drops and can utilize his early speed, has great win percentage when leaving, only if and when, your guess. (3) GALLO BLUE CHIP the gallant gelding is a watch list horse for game uncovered effort past the half in fast last half and gets a free ride in class (5) DREAM ROCKET gets regular pilot Miller back after unusual break, flashed good late foot in previous two starts off the layoff (7) LCB we kind of forgot about him last week but he raced well flashing good speed from post #10
Race Eight: Non-winners of Four (1) OHUBETTERBELIEVEIT watch list horse for fast 27.1 close in the Oil Burner Final and major post advantage over his main rival. (10) ARMBRO BECALM has been a force in the Pelling barn, offered surprising value in the Oil Burner final but not sure he will be used that hard for a lot less cash. (2) FATES PLACE traffic problems cost him a chance for the Oil Burner final, responded with authoritative win in the Oil Burner consolation
Race Nine: $50,000 to $60,000 Claiming Handicap (10) MACIE THE FARMER very sharp form, nice 27.1 close 4th over, not sure that post #10 will kill his chances that much since he got off poorly last week from post #4. (6) FRANCO SEQUEL N Manzi’s choice drops off good final quarters and third race off scratch sick. (3) WISE PROFET goes for a tag after sharp, well meant effort 2nd off the layoff. (8) TWIN B GAMBIT drops back in second start off the Brennan claim and gets regular pilot George Brennan back. Race Ten: $75,000 to $80,000 Claiming Handicap (7) GENE CARTER gets Pierce this week, a watch list horse being parked past the quarter in fast half and pressured mile. (1) PINNACLE another good closing effort last week, should be ready to pounce early from the rail. (5) CAMS PRIMETIME should offer more in third start back, need to improve his early position as he has paced big second quarters just to get into contention. Race Eleven: $30,000 to $35,000 Claiming Handicap (4) FORT HARROD offered nice late pace in first start over the track, Miller’s surprising choice over morning line favorites #5 and #8, Brower adjusted morning line on him also dropping him from 8-1, we will give him a shot also. (6) LIBERAL ARTS Manzi returns on the class drop after being hard pressed to keep up in fast pace (5) IMAGE OF JATE another of the Oakes stable claims was used hard and held well, may be overbet in this spot though.
Race Twelve: $50,000 Claiming Four-Year-Olds (6 )LAUGHING IS AN ART a watch list horse for brush to very fast half and pacing quick second quarter. (5) BACK OFF looms as the heavy play as he got the trip behind the choice but tables may be reversed this week. (2) WILDCAT FEVER went uncovered against the choice, but may just choose to sit this time.
