Young reinsman Tim Tetrick capped off another stellar season by nabbing the driving titles at both Chicago racetracks on December 31. The 23-year-old Crete resident has been on the Windy City harness racing circuit for just four years, and has already driven the winners of well over $10 million.

The Flora, Illinois native was born and raised into a harness racing family, and Tim began steering one thousand pounds of horseflesh around the tight county fair ovals at age 16.
Now, just seven years later, he’s one of the hottest drivers at Balmoral and Maywood Parks and has captured the fall 2004 driving titles at both tracks.

This year Tetrick has piloted over 450 winners to the tune of $3.5 million, the first year he’s topped the $3 million plateau, but his fourth consecutive million dollar season.

"I study the program before I hit the track, but I also know that as a driver you’ve got to be ready to make a split second decision at any time during a race. Everything can change quickly once you get behind that starting gate," Tetrick said. "It also helps to know the horses that you’re driving against, and their abilities."

This year, Tetrick got one of his biggest thrills to date when he piloted Odds On Dion to victory on June 27 at Balmoral Park for trainer Robin Schadt. It was Tetrick’s 1,000th career victory.
