Tetrick Drives Both Series Winners at Maywood

December 14, 2005

Tim Tetrick drove Dr Lon and Buddy Brown to convincing victories in their respective second Incredible Finale series legs Wednesday at Maywood Park. Both freshman pacers have captured each of their first two series legs, establishing themselves as next week’s co-favorites in the Thursday, December 22 ICF final at Balmoral Park.

In the first division, Tetrick scored with Dr Lon in 1:57 for trainer Roger Welch, who shares ownership of the Incredible Finale freshman with Gordon Wright of Charlotte, MI. Dr Lon notched his first series leg at Balmoral on December 6 with a 1:56.2 clocking, also coming on the front end with Tetrick.

“Dr Lon is a quick little horse with some go,” said Tetrick. “He had some fast miles earlier in the season in some of the major Illinois bred stakes but he just couldn’t win a race. Roger (trainer, Welch) gave him a couple of months off and he’s come back fresh and ready for this series.”

Buddy Brown had to work harder for his front stepping 1:58.3 victory with Tetrick in the second division. The Sportsmaster colt, who is trained by Charles Wayne Von Knoblauch scored a one and three-quarter-length triumph in 1:56 for owner Harry Von Knoblauch. Buddy Brown won his December 6 first series leg with Tetrick in the bike

“Buddy Brown can get a lazy out there at times,” said Tetrick. “He goes as fast as to go. I had to keep getting after him but in the end he got the job done. I’ll wait for the draw before I commit for next week’s final but I’m pretty sure I’ll drive Dr Lon. Right now he’s the quicker of the two.”
