Pandrogynous Wins Suslow Series Opener

Pandrogynous scored a length and a half victory over Real Mean Art in the $22,500 opening round of the Suslow Series, on Friday night at the Meadowlands. Bono Bests the 8-5 favorite, held on for third. Sent off at odds of 41-1, Pandrogynous posted his fourth win in 11 lifetime starts, first victory in his third start this year.
The Peter Pan Stables homebred, trained by Chris Marino, paced the mile in 1:50.4, a lifetime best. The winner is a three-year-old son of Noble Ability – Out in The Opan with career earnings of $73,562.
The victory was one of five for driver John Campbell in the first five races. Campbell, the 16-time Meadowlands driving champion who celebrates his 51st birthday on Saturday, won with Townline Lily in the second race, Pandrogynous in the third, Easton Alliance in the fifth race, Franco Sequel in the seventh and Lawrence in the 12th race.
The three-week Suslow continues next week with a final worth $72,700 on April 21.
