Super Night Elims at Balmoral Now History Illinois' Biggest Night September 16

Super Night eliminations are history. On Saturday night, September 9, the first 12 races on the 14-race program were Super Night Elims. On Sunday night at Balmoral, races two through eight feature Super Night eliminations.
Ann Vonian Elims Sunday night began with a pair of $12,500 Ann Vonian elims, with the first five finishers from each race nailing a spot in the final.
Loyal Opposition won the first division easily in 1:51.4, drawing off for driver Andy Miller and trainer/brother Erv Miller. Ft Apache Hanover (Sam Widger) was a strong second, with Filly Finale (Lavern Hostetler) third, Bob's Minute Maid (Mike Oosting) fourth and Red White Blues (Todd Warren) fifth.
The second division saw Oneinamilliongirl and Tim Tetrick finish under the wire first, pacing in 1:52.2. Sleazebiscuit (Brent Holland) was second, with Ez Fortune (Sam Widger) third, A Very Nice Horse (Jim Taggart Jr) fourth and Arizona Helen (Ryan Anderson) fifth.
Dan Patch Elims Two $12,500 Dan Patch elims were held for older pacing horses and geldings, with the first five qualifying for the Super Night Final. Tim Tetrick piloted the first division winner Gar, to a 1:50.3 clocking, besting Brian And Kellie (Andy Miller) in second, with Incredible Art (Ryan Anderson) third, The Long Goodbye (Sam Widger) fourth and Prince Vince (Mike Oosting) fifth.
The second division saw King Johnny score in 1:49.2 for Tetrick and trainer Clark Fairley. Go Warrior Go (Dave Magee) was a gutsy second, wiht Constant Change (Dale Hiteman) third, Fox Valley Snaffle (Mike Oosting) fourth and Ithinki'msomebody (Brent Holland) fifth.
The Lady Ann Reed Elimination The $12,500 Lady Ann Reed elimination saw a full field of ten trotters go postward, with the first seven joining Victors Finesse, Miss Imperial and Go Go Gabby in the final. Those latter three were all given "byes" in the final, based on their seasonal earnings. Fox Valley Shimmy (Dale Hiteman) nailed the win in 1:56.2, followed by these remaining three-year-old fillies: Kendal Has Panache (Dave Magee), Hi-Tri (Lavern Hostetler), Peaceful Victory (Mike Oosting), Fox Valley Stinger (Brent Holland), Queen Victoria K (Dirk Simpson) and Mystical Taya (Andy Miller).
Su Mac Lad Elims Two $12,500 elims for sophomore trotting colts and geldings were contested, with the first five qualifying for the Super Night final, and Dave Magee piloted both of those winners. In the first division Magee steered Valley Sport to a new career clocking of 1:56.1, besting Earlivic (Homer Hochstetler) second, Litigator (Ryan Anderson) third, Maha Rushi (Dale HIteman) fourth and Fox Valley Hotrod (Tim Tetrick) fifth. Kan Wire (Brent Holland) made an early break and was never in the race.
In the second elim Crown Vic benefitted from a perfect, two-hole trip to use the inside stretch to win in 1:57.2. Dancing Offtoplay (Doug Hamilton) was second, with Adam Gram (Andy Miller) a tiring third, Golf Central (Homer Hochstetler) fourth and Go Merrily Along (Trenton Watson) fifth. Cunning was scratched, leaving just a six-horse field of contenders.
Orange & Blue Filly Elims Starting the evening off were four $12,500 divisions of eliminations for the $300,000 Orange & Blue Filly Pace were contested, with the first two finishers from each heat and two third place finishers (to be drawn by lot) entering next.
In the first divison Faith Leigh (Jamacia Patton) scored hom first in a new lifetime mark of 1:53, with Bubbles Sister (Tim Tetrick) second and Perdido (Sam Widger) third. In the second division Looking At You scored a big, come from behind effort for driver Tim Tetrick in 1:54.2. Orgami Rose (Sam Widger) was second with Sugar Park (Dave Magee) third.
In the third division it was Trendy L (Mike Oosting) scoring in 1:54.3 with Colette (Ron Marsh) secon dand Fox Valley Sarong (Tim Tetrick) third. The fourth elim saw Kiss Of Heaven win in 1:54.1 for Brent Holland, while Alwaysabetterway (Andy Miller) nailed second and Hit The Hyway (Dave Magee) third.
Grandma Ann Elims A pair of $12,500 eliminmations were held for the $180,000 Grandma Ann Stake, with the first five finishers in each nailing a spot in the final.
In the first elim Street Dancer and Dale Hiteman took home the winner's circle photo in 1:51.1. Spanish Rosey (Homer Hochstetler) as second, Ms Maggie (Andy Miller) third, Kissmekissmekissme (Ryan Anderson) fourth and Join The Party (Todd Warren) fifth.
The second divison was won by Free (Sam Widger) with Peine Bubbles (Tim Tetrick) a very strong second, Heartland Chamer (Dale Hiteman) third, Sherri On Ice (Dave Magee) fourth and Little Sweetheart (Mike Oosting) fifth.
Langley Memorial Elims Two $12,500 Langley Memorial elims were also contested, with the sophomore pacing colt test Final worth $200,000 next weekend.
The first elim was won by Fox Valley Cruiser in 1:51.1--a new lifetime mark--with Ryan Anderson in the sulky. Cape Karuna (Brent Holland) was second, with Our Beer Buddy (Sam Widger) third, Hot N Sporty (Dave Magee) fourth and Still Dancing (Andy Miller) fifth.
The second elim saw Thisbigdogwillfight (Brent Holland) outnose My Boy David (Andy Miller) in the final strides in 1:49.2--a new track record for a three-year-old pacing gelding. Fox Valley Appeal (Mike Oosting) was third wtih Fox Valley Tribal (Ryan Anderson) fourth and Wonderful One (Sam Widger) fifth.
Orange & Blue Colt Elims Four $12,500 Orange & Blue Colt eliminations were held, with the first two finishers from each heat and two third place finishers to be drawn by lot qualifying for the $300,000 Super Night final event.
In the first elim The Quiet Mon (Jason Dillander) won easily in 1:51.2, with Perfect Tattler (Andy Miller) second and Fox Valley Curahee (Brent Holland) third. The second elim was taken by Gotta Go Moe (Andy Miller) in 1:53.2, with Ascot Bourbon (Sam Widger) second and Body By Sport (Ryan Anderson) third.
As expected Home Bed Advantage (Ryan Anderson) won the third elim in 1:50.1--a new world record for a freshman pacing gelding. Glass Pack (Dave Magee) was second with One Park Place (Todd Warren) third.
The fourth and final elim of the night was won by Fox Valley Barzgar, making his Chicago debut since winning the Woodrow Wilson at The Meadowlands on August 4 of this year. He paced in 1:52 for driver Dave Magee, nearly seven lengths ahead of the hard-trying Brother Vinny (Sam Widger), with Cole Combustion (Dale Hiteman) third.
