Bancroft Hall Takes Super Bowl Final

January 25, 2006

Bancroft Hall captured the $65,000 Super Bowl Final Wednesday night at the Meadowlands in 1:57.2. Four Starz Robro was second, with Near The Limit third. Cat Manzi moved the four-year-old daughter of Conway Hall three-wide with an eighth of a mile to go, and she charged to the lead for her sixth win in 28 career starts. The victory doubled the mare’s bankroll to $64,309 for owner James J. Ingram of Davenport, Iowa.

“Trainer Mark Fransen from Chicago sent her to me for this series,” said Ken Rucker, who has overseen the mare’s care since she arrived in New Jersey in mid-December. “They’ll probably breed her in the spring. She’s a funny filly, hard to handle. We have her on the farm, which unwinds her, but race nights excite her. Her owners put her in the Tattersalls Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands January 16, and bought her back for $52,000."
