Strong Yankee Dead

Strong Yankee was euthanized after suffering a broken shoulder in a paddock accident at Tara Hill Stud in Ontario. Strong Yankee was in the process of being syndicated for his first year at stud in Canada.

The four-year-old son of Muscles Yankee - So So Chic was turned out in a paddock at Tara Hills on Saturday morning when he fell and injured his shoulder. After being rushed to the vet clinic at the University of Guelph and having the extent of injuries determined, the decision was made to euthanize Strong Yankee.

Strong Yankee had 31 starts with an 11-9-2 record and $1,434,351. He was trained by Trond Smedshammer and driven by Brian Sears. His major victories came in the Yonkers Trot, the Kentucky Futurity and the Breeders Crown. He was owned by the Strong Yankee Stable of Port Perry, Ontario.
