Racing was conducted on the ice at St. Moritz, Switzerland with its usual flair and elegance. Conducted on three consecutive Sundays in February  (6th, 13th &20th), it brought together a spectacular mixture of trotting and galloping races, as well as "Skikjoring" events--those where drivers/jockeys are on skiis and pulled by horses at a dead run.  There are a series of each of these events to please all horse enthusiasts, and a point system that eventually crowns the winner as the "King of the Engadine."

Typcially, the lake at St. Moritz has a nearly two-foot ice cap covering it, accompanied by a thick layer of snow.  This event has taken place each year since 1907, and not only includes exciting races, but a beautiful festival set in one Switzerland's most picturesque spots on every race day.
