Friday at Springfield... Newest Fastest Illinois-bred Two-Year-Old Pacer!

Andy Miller brought home six winners on the 12-race card at Springfield on Friday afternoon, including guiding Lucky's Z Tam to a 1:50.2 national season's and track record. The freshmann colt is trained by Dave McCaffrey for owner MJGB Racing Stable of New York. In all, three national season's marks were set as freshmen colts vied in elimination heats at the one mile oval at the Illinois State Fair.
Andy won the first three races on the card for trainer/brother Erv Miller, scoring with the trotting filly Vickie in 1:59.3, Miss Imperial in 1:58.4 and Victory's Finess in 2:00.1. He steered Fox Valley Cayenne to win in 1:59.1 and Fox Valley Tribal in 1:52 as well.
Two freshman fillies--bred, owned and trained by Lynn Wilfong paced the fastest miles of the season for their age, sex and gait. You Make Me Smile (Mike Oosting) 1:52.1, and Join The Party (Sam Widger) 1:52.3 are both daughteres by sire Cape Crusader.
Sonny Knew (Eric Ledford) set a season's record for freshman trotting geldings of 1:56.2, while Indy Pendent Bay (Dean Magee) won her sixth in six tries in 1:53.1, and Hot N Sporty (Tony Morgan) won in 1:53.2, now seven for seven lifetime.
