Spring Championship Legs at Woodbine Saturday

L H Stryker and Holborn Hanover captured their respective $55,000 First Leg divisions of the Spring Pacing Championship Saturday night at Woodbine. Round two returns next Saturday, April 1, with the rich final slated for Saturday, April 8th.
L H Stryker, in rein to Mario Baillargeon, bested Tigerama and Whosurboy in 1:52.2 in the first divsion in wire-to-wire fashion. Baillargeon rolled the Kyle Reibeling student through panels of :26.3, :55.1 and 1:24.2 before storming home in :27.2 en route to his first win of the season in 8 starts for Reibeling, of Harriston, and partner Ladino Fiori of North York, ON. The 5-year-old son of Apaches Fame, who took a career best mark of 1:48.4 at Woodbine last summer, is now a 15-time winner in his career with lifetime earnings of $278,643.
Holborn Hanover captured the second division in 1:52.2 in come-from-behind fashion. Rick Zeron was aboard the Mark Harder pupil, who followed pacesetter Primetime Bobcat as he rattled off panels of :27.1, :56 and 1:24.2. Zeron, who had three wins on the card, timed the wire just right with Holborn Hanover, who paced a final quarter in :27. Primetime Bobcat was second while Big Bonus finished third. It was the second straight win for the 5-year-old son of Cams Card Shark--Hattie, who boosted his career bankroll to $1,381,873 for partners John Fielding of Toronto and Canamerica Capital Corp. of Milton, ON.
