Second Leg of Spring Pacing Championship

Roddys Bags Again and Tigerama each captured a $55,000 division of the second leg of the Spring Championship Series for open pacers at Woodbine. The $114,000 (est.) Spring Pacing Championship final is scheduled for next Saturday, April 8.

In the first split Roddys Bags Again was at the wire first in 1:50.4. Primetime Bobcat was right there for second with Buckeye One taking third. Just five lengths separated the entire field. Owned by breeder Robert Messick of Delaware, it was the second win in 10 starts this year for Roddys Bags Again a son of Dragons Lair. Joe Stutzman handles his training while in Canada.

In the second division Tigerama and Mark MacDonald were allowed to get away with a :56.4 half and then zipped home in :26.1 off a 1:25.1 third panel to win in 1:51.2. Last week’s opening round winner Holborn Hanover was a close second with Armbro Becalm taking third. Owned and bred by Bob Hamather of Exeter, Ontario and trained by Rich Griffiths, Tigerama is now 4-3-3 in 12 starts this year for $164,000 earned. Lifetime he sports over $830,000 in his money won column.
