Shu Hanover and Mypanmar made the $50,000 second leg of the Presidential Series an exciting one as they finished under the wire together at The Meadowlands on Saturday evening in 1:50.2. The pair finished half a length in front of the hard trying Casimir Camotion.

together Saturday night at The Big M in 1:50.2. Casimir
Camotion (#7) was third in Presidential Series, 2nd leg.

Mypanmar (John Campbell) moved to the lead with an eighth of a mile to go while Shu Hanover (David Miller) was following an outside route, making up ground with every stride. The two five-year-olds hit the wire together.

“I had to use him hard a couple of times in the race,” Campbell said of Mypanmar. “He’s just getting into racing shape to go with these horses. Last year, with his third-place finish in the Breeders Crown, he showed he could be a top horse. Hopefully, he improves off this race for next week.

“I thought we [Shu Hanover] were second,” assistant trainer Al Meyer said. “I was pleasantly surprised. I was out warming up and saw the tote board lit, his number flashing. This should set him up nicely for next week and calm him down a bit.”

Mypanmar, a chestnut son of The Panderosa, posted his first victory in three starts this year. Owned and bred by the Peter Pan Stables Inc. of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Mypanmar now has 18 wins and has finished in the money in 26 of 41 career starts, banking more than $260,000.

Shu Hanover races for the Rucker Stable of Beecher, Illinois; Jordon Sklut of Portage, Indiana and Centaur Stable of Oak Lawn, Illinois. He has one win and one second in two starts this year and lifetime has 29 wins, 14 seconds and four thirds from 69 starts.
