Driver Brian Sears could reach the $50 million mark in career earnings this weekend at the Meadowlands. The 38-year-old resident of Secaucus, New Jersey has $49,913,163 banked through February 10. He is listed to drive in 24 races this weekend, 12 races each on Friday and Saturday night, at the Meadowlands. Sears captured both the January-August and November-December driving titles at the Meadowlands in 2005 and currently leads the 2006 standings, with 35 wins.
In 2005 Sears set a North American single season earnings record of $15,085,991. He was the regular driver of four Dan Patch Award winners: Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover, Older Pacer of the Year Boulder Creek, Three-Year-Old Filly Trotter of the Year Blur and Two-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year Cabrini Hanover. He also piloted Strong Yankee, runner-up to Vivid Photo in Three-Year-Old Colt Trotter of the Year balloting.
