The Road to the Meadowlands Pace is Paved with Good Intentions

The Meadowland's Ken Warkentin has listed the following horses as ones to watch for the $1 million Meadowland's Pace, set for July 16, 2005. Check back regularly for updates!

2-1, ROCKNROLL HANOVER, Brett Pelling, Jeff Snyder and Lothlorien Equest., First 2yo to break 1:50 with 1:49.4 in Metro Final. "He's developed nicely, will qualify next week, maybe race in a NJSS before the NJ Classic," said Pelling.

5-2, VILLAGE JOLT, Ed Hart, Jeff Snyder and Arlene & Jules Siegel, 2004 Dan Patch winner q'd in 1:56 on April 21 at Pocono and in 1:55.1 on April 29 at Meadowlands. "He's come back good, strong and sound, qualifies again next Friday, then heads for the NJ Classic," noted Hart.

4-1, STONEBRIDGE REGAL, Bob McIntosh, Robert Kaufman, Angie Stiller, Bob McIntosh, W Springtime Racing, Romped in 1:51.1 in Woodbine's Youthful on April 16; and first leg of Diplomat; final next. "He was a June foal, so he was late developing, definitely better now and on pace for the Provincial Cup, Burlington, No. America Cup, then the Pace," said McIntosh.

6-1, SYNCRO'S Z TAM, Patrick Lachance, MJGB Racing Stb and Pat Lachance, Governor's Cup winner has "come back real good," said Lachance. "He'll qualify here [Big M] on Friday, then we're going to try the Jim Lynch at Pocono Downs."

8-1, RUNOVER FEELING, Kelly O'Donnell, Jack Tramonte and Ed Mullinax, Won 7 of 8 at two. Q'd in 1:57.2 at Spring Garden Ranch on April 19. "He qualifies next Friday at the Meadows, has PASS there, then the Provincial Cup, Burlington, NA Cup, Hoosier Cup and Meadowlands Pace."

10-1, SHANGHAI PHIL, Dustin Jones, Chemvest Holding, Hudson Stb., Dustin Jones Stb., Grand Circuit winner with 1:51.2 mark at two, "he's trained 1:57 at the farm, qualified [in 1:56.2] on April 29 at Mohawk, will qualify again, then head to the Burlington, NA Cup and, hopefully, the Pace," said Jones.

12-1, ALLAMERICAN INCA, Noel Daley, Adam Victor & Son , Set world record 1:51.2 at the Meadows in third start at two. "This is a serious racehorse who is very quick," said Daley. "He qualifies next Friday at Meadowlands, then PASS at the Meadows, the Hempt elim and final before the Pace."

15-1, TEAM HUTCH, Homer Hochstetler, Joy & Bonnie Hutchison, Top Illinois 2yocp, won his first start of the year in 1:53.3 on April 30 at Balmoral. "We're staying close to home, pointing for the Hoosier Cup, then the Pace," said Hochstetler.

15-1, FOUR STARZ SISCO, Dave Sabatelli, Four Starzzzz Stb., He won his first four, but finished 8th in the Berry's Creek Prep. "He's been better and more mature, yet he still needs to learn how to relax a bit," said Sabatelli. "After the Berry's Creek, he has the Provincial Cup, NA Cup, then the Pace."

20-1, SPEED DEMON, Brett Pelling, Perfect World Ent., Matron winner in 1:51.4 at 2. "He's for real," said Pelling. "We had to geld him, and he's kinder now, has a lot of natural ability. He qualifies next Friday at the Meadowlands, then NJSS and the NJ Classic before the
Pace."
