The $1 million Meadowlands Pace will take place on July 15, 2006.

Perfect Union, at odds of 50-1, and favorite Artistic Fella, extending his winning streak to eight, won their Meadowlands Pace eliminations on July 8, blazing to a pair of sub-1:50 clockings as they continued down the Road to the Meadowlands Pace. The track’s $1 million signature event is Saturday night, July 15.

Perfect Union wired the field in the first elim in 1:49 while Artistic Fella equaled the fastest Pace elim of 1:48.4, first set by Timesareachanging in 2004.

"We did a lot of work with him the past few weeks,” Richie Silverman said of Perfect Union. “He's shown before he's a good horse, we know that. He was right there with Jereme’s Jet and Palone Ranger in the Metro last year. I just hope he can do it again next week."

"He's such a good horse; he showed it again tonight,” said Cat Manzi, after driving Artistic Fella to his elim victory. “Late in the mile, I thought they might have him. But he dug in and refused to be beat."

Took Hanover was a solid third in his elimination.

"He loves this track,” said trainer Brendan Johnson. “He hung in there quite well. We were pleased with his effort. He's coming along, and it couldn't have come at a better time."

"My colt has wicked gate speed,” said Dave Palone of his namesake, Dave Panlone. “It helped him get position in his elimination [to finish third]. They were going a little too much for him in his elimination. At least we made the final."

"My colt [Real Mean Art], for five-eighths of a mile, can go with anyone,” said trainer John McDermott. “I'm excited to be in the Meadowlands Pace. A month ago I wasn't in this position."
