Erv Miller On Restive Hanover
December 1, 2004

By Bob "Hollywood" Heyden

Breeders Crown winning Restive Hanover will start from post four in the $200,000 Three Diamonds this Saturday at the Meadowlands. She will try to become the first freshman filly in twelve years to win both-Immortality did it in 1992. The only other filly to win both was also a Bruce Nickells trainee-Miss Easy in 1990.

Erv, "When she got down to 2:10-2:15, she showed me she was a real horse. The power was there. She didn't have any problems with speed. A lot of young horses get to a certain point and that is it. She didn't do that."

"We sent her out of town earlier this year-to Pennsylvania. I really thought she'd do great. I thought it was a foolproof idea. She went to a few different tracks and didn't do as well as I thought. I brought her back home, and from then on, she's been great."

Erv continued, "Now, she's had a bit of a rest. I thought her prep was awesome. She's ready for the final."

Erv is the ONLY American born (Illinois native) trainer in North American currently in the top ten (#5). Ironically, his brother, driver Andy, is the ONLY driver this year who has won a $500,000 or better race who is NOT a regular at the Meadowlands (Breeders Crown-Woodbine-$500,000-Restive Hanover).

Erv is one of three boys with three sisters. Erv, "I come from a family that practiced the Amish faith. One of my brothers and my three sisters still do."

Is this Erv's best year ever?? "Yes, I've had my best 4-5 years all stacked up on top of each other the last few."
