Rainbow Blue Wins Again at The Big M

Rainbow Blue---the 2004 Horse of the Year, sprinted a final quarter in 26 seconds to secure her 11th straight victory in the $42,500 mares open, the fifth race on Friday night at the Meadowlands. Ron Pierce moved Rainbow Blue to the lead at the quarter and coasted through easy fractions before repelling the challenge of Glowing Report for a head victory in 1:51.4. Carolina Sunshine was third by a length and three quarters.
Rainbow Blue, with earnings of nearly $1.4 million, now has three wins in three starts this year and 29 of 31 for her career. Her only loss in 21 starts last year was on August 7 in the Mistletoe Shalee Final at the Meadowlands. Trained by George Teague Jr., she is owned by K&R Racing LLC and Teague Inc., both of Houston, Delaware.
In the $47,500 open trot, the sixth race, Fool's Goal posted his 35th career victory in his 112th start, holding off Hellava Hush by nose in 1:53.3. Hez Striking was third. Driven by John Campbell and trained by Jim Doherty, Fool's Goal was the 2002 Older Trotter of the Year. The 10-year-old has banked more than $3 million for Bruce McElven of Pemberton, New Jersey and Ronald Allen of Southampton, New Jersey.
