Nuclear Breeze Captures Presidential

January 27, 2007

Nuclear Breeze simply cruised to a 1:49.2 victory in the $116,600 Presidential Final Saturday night at The Meadowlands. Brian Sears was at the lines for trainer Roger Hans and owner Thomas Cooke of Rockville, MD.

The mile was Nuclear Breeze's fifth sub-1:50 mile since last fall. The five-year-old son of Nuclear High--Radiant Breeze--Falcon Seelster earned $142,890 at four, and now has $89,300 in seasonal earnings in 2007 in only four starts.

"The last couple weeks this horse wasn't quite as sharp as he has been, but tonight he was back to his old self and was very sharp," Sears said. "I thought if I could set this horse in for a half-mile he'd be very sharp at the end."

"This is a homebred," owner Thomas Cooke said proudly. "This horse has come back beyond our wildest expectations. This horse loves The Meadowlands and we'll be back, and he breeds when he's not racing. He'll be racing back here soon."

Load The Dice (Yannick Gingras) was second with Roddy's Bags Again (Mike Lachance) third. Hop Sing was scratched.
