Paul MacDonell Tops All Drivers in October

Paul MacDonell led all drivers in October at Woodbine and Mohawk with 27 wins and $1,006,297(C) in purse earnings. MacDonell won one more race than Rick Zeron and Luc Ouellette during that time, while Randy Waples was fourth with 25 winners and Chris Christoforou was fifth with 22.

MacDonell on top in purse earnings, as Zeron had ($638,144), Ouellette ($587,714), Mark MacDonald ($513,808) and Waples ($509,997).

In 2005 overall MacDonell is third on the Woodbine Entertainment Group dash list with 219 victories. Ouellette ranks first with 260 winners, followed by Christoforou at 240.

Joe Stutzman was WEG’s leading trainer for October with 15 winners, eight more than Fred Hoffman. Mark Ford, Ben Baillargeon and Richard Banca tied for third with six winners each. Stutzman also led with $204,110 in purse earnings.

As well, 62 horses were claimed during October for a total of $2,119,500. The total number of horses claimed for the year is 659 to date, with more than $19.6 million changing hands on the Mohawk & Woodbine circuits.
