Italian Derby winner Fairbank GI trotted to a winning 1:56.2 victory in the $250,000 (US) Orsi Mangelli Final heat November 1 at the San Siro Racetrack in Milan, Italy. Driver Guiseppe Maisto was behind the son of Italian Sire Lemon Dra out of the Sugarcane Hanover mare Tangente Kramer. Flute Grif was second for driver Enrico Bellei, with Cromwell third for driver Robert Bergh.

Fairbank GI won the first elim by six lengths in 1:57.2, while Cromwell took the second elimination heat in 1:57.1. Total purse for the event was $350,000

In the $240,000 Orsi Mangelli Filly Trot it was Le Reve--a Canadian owned and bred sophomore trotting filly that took home first prize in 1:56.1 for Swedish driver Erik Adielsson. Nineteen fillies graced the track for one of Milan's top events, as the filly romped to her second straight victory for the Ecuriei Reve Avec Moi of Brigham, Quebec, Canada. Le Reve had previously captured the $130,000 Coupe Final at Hippodrome de Montreal prior to shipping to Italy. She is by French sire Fill V, out of mare Catch Fortuna, a sister to the great Moni Maker.
