January 13, 2007

Nuclear Breeze extended his winning streak to eight in the $50,000 opening round of the Presidential Series, Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Nuclear Breeze, with Brian Sears at the lines, charged to the front before the half, had a clear lead at the top of the stretch and held on for a three-quarter-length victory over Load The Dice and Hop Sing. The mile was timed in 1:49.3.

"He's a good horse," said Sears. "He doesn't take a whole lot of work. He had last week off so he needed the race. Everything is great with him."

Nuclear Breeze, a five-year-old son of Nuclear High, is owned by his breeder Thomas Cooke of Rockville, Maryland, who is a Distinguished Teaching Professor at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. Nucelar Breeze now has 24 wins, four seconds and five thirds form 41 career outings and $267,132 in career earnings.

The pacer's winning streak began on November 7 at Rosecroft Raceway and the last six wins have come against the top class of pacers at the Meadowlands.

The three-week Presidential Series for free for all pacers continues next week with a $100,000 estimated final on January 27.
