Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will host the second round of the guaranteed $5,000 Pick 4 Wednesday, May 25. The promotion is part of the U. S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering program, which now includes specialty wagers at 10 racetracks across the United States.
The $5,000 Pick 4 kicked off Wednesday, May 18 with a warm reception from racing enthusiasts. The total pool for the wager pulled in $10,398.14. A total of 54 winning tickets were sold, paying a reward of $151.00. The Kentucky Hub had the most winning tickets for the Pick 4 with 13 of the 54 sold through that system.
The guaranteed $5,000 Pick 4 wager will be held four consecutive Wednesdays through June 8. The wager is available on races three through six on the program at Hoosier Park, which begins at 5:30 p.m. EST.
Dan Patch Set for May 28 Hoosier Park is also teaming up with the Indiana Standardbred Association and the U.S. Trotting Association on an inflated Superfecta wager for the 18th edition of the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Saturday, May 28.
Preakness Scores in Attendance Pimlico Race Course had its largest attendance in three years for the Preakness Stakes (G1) on May 21~a 12.1% increase compared with 2010, but the handle dropped 3.6% compared to last year's middle segment of the Triple Crown.
The 107,398 who packed the Baltimore track was below crowds of 112,000 to 121,000 for 2004 through 2008. Attendance in 2009 was 77,850 and 95,760 in 2010.
The attendance ranked sixth all time while the Preakness Day handle was seventh on the all-timelist with $76,376,689 wagered for the 13-race program.
