March 7, 2007

Up Front Jan-E-Lu added another winter series final to her laurels with a career best 1:52 effort in the $55,000 Night Styles Wednesday night at The Big M.

Up Front Jan-E-Lu saved ground early, before tipping to the outside on the final turn and charging home to a length and three-quarter tally over Captain Holly. Heavy favorite Enhance The Night was all out to finish third after engaging in an early battle for the lead.

"I was able to get to the three-quarter pole without having to use her too much," said winning driver, Brian Sears. "I was within striking distance and she came up with a big race tonight. I was fourth on the rail [heading into the stretch] and was able to slide out going into the last turn."

Up Front Jan-E-Lu notched her fourth win in seven starts and her second stakes crown this season for Ed Mullinax of Amherst, Ohio. The Nat Varty trainee also captured the $50,000 White Ruffles Final on January 25. The four-year-old mare's career bankroll is now $109,265.
