Queen of Trash Scores in NJSS Friday
June 23, 2006
The Queen of Trash out dueled Ideal Weather for a head victory in the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Final for three-year-old pacing fillies, the sixth race Friday night at the Meadowlands in 1:51.3. Pacific Philly was third by a length and a half. The Queen of Trash, unraced at two, posted her seventh win in her tenth start.
“I didn’t know very much about her other than she’d raced well in her previous races here,” said winning driver John Campbell. “I had never driven her before. But I was impressed with the way she’d been racing. Les [trainer Les Givens] said she’d be better off with cover, and she certainly was. I was parked the whole mile. I couldn’t go down to the rail or I’d have been locked in. I was able to catch cover from Bikini Bottom, and she took me right up to the leaders. I knew the first quarter was going to be hot [26.3 seconds] with the two favorites on the outside. Ideal Weather was coming hard, but when I called on this mare late in the stretch, she responded well and went right through the wire.”
The Queen of Trash is by Cam’s Card Shark and out of the Matt’s Scooter mare One Eyed Floozie. She has banked $156,151, all since she was purchased from breeder Frederick W. Hertrich III on February 23 by the partnership of Nanticoke Racing Inc. and Brandon Givens, both of Seaford, Delaware, and Donna Messick of Delmar, Delaware.
