Hana Hanover win Mistletoe Shalee

Hana Hanover snapped Southwind Tempo's winning streak at 10 as she up-ended the 2-5 favorite in the $320,000 Mistletoe Shalee, the first of Saturday afternoon's stakes events.

Driven by George Brennan, Hana Hanover sat behind Southwind Tempo as she led the field into the stretch, then rocketed past her and on to a 1:49.3 victory, equaling the stakes and track record for a three-year-old filly pacer. Southwind Tempo held on for second, while Tidewaterdragonfly closed late to finish third, in the afternoon's sixth race.

Hana Hanover recorded her ninth win in 12 career starts for trainer Mark Steacy and Ontario-based owners David Reid of Glenburnie, David McDonald of Cornwall, Stan Klemencic of Trenton and Dr. Man Son Hing of Nepean. The daughter of Western Hanover was a $35,000 yearling purchase at the Harrisburg Sale.
