Pampered Princess Wins $350,000 Miller Final

Pampered Princess captured the $350,000 Del Miller Memorial Friday night at the Meadowlands in 1:53.2, with John Campbell at the lines. The daughter of Andover Hall picked up her fourth win of the year in five starts and became harness racing's newest millionaire with her 14th career win.

Jimmy Takter picked up his second consecutive Miller victory. The Swede native trains the star filly for owners Bob Anderson and David Anderson of Ontario.

Pampered Princess, the 2006 Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, notched her fourth consecutive victory. She took control of the lead around the backside and held off a late challenge from Possess The Magic to win by a half-length in 1:53.2. It was five lengths back to Falls For You in third.

“We’re very happy with her so far,” Campbell said. “I thought there would be more speed getting out of the gate and when I thought I saw a chance to get a slow second quarter I was able to take advantage of that and basically she did the rest. She never gives up. Possess The Magic, she’s a tough filly and they’re going to be butting heads the whole year, I’m sure. No, that’s up to Jimmy and Dave and Bob Anderson. That will be their decision. I hope she goes in the [Hambletonian] Oaks, it makes my job easier, but it will be up to them.”

“She’s a really special girl, she seems to do everything right,” noted Takter, who won back-to-back Del Miller Finals. “Well, we bought a couple [Andover Hall foals] the first year and we did quite well with them and then this year and last year in the sale it’s been a little too expensive so we’ve ended with only two of them. They’re very nice horses. To race a filly this early in the year, when we have so many big races coming up later on, it could be very foolish, but we staked her actually for the Canadian Trotting Classic up in Canada, which goes for a million that’s against mostly boys, its an open race. Maybe we’ll give it a shot [in the Hambletonian], but we haven’t decided yet, but most likely with the fillies [Hambletonian Oaks].”

Pampered Princess increased her lifetime earnings to $1,097,765.
