Trainer Erv Miller captured both the $100,000 Maywood Filly Pace and the $102,000 Maywood Pace Final for colts Friday night at Chicago's in-town half-mile oval.

In the Maywood Filly Pace Final (Race Nine) Mike Oosting piloted Jan's Julie Too to a 1:54.2 clocking for owner Harvey Eisman of Flint, Michigan.  The sophomore daughter of Tattler's Torpedo pushed her career earnings to $107,380 with the win, her sixth in 16 lifetime outings.

"Oosting did a great job with her tonight," Erv said. "The race set up well for us and he used the trip to his advantage. This mare had a big chance to make quite a bit of money this year and is staked to just about everything in Illinois."

Kan Wheel finished second for Ross Leonard, half a length behind the winner, while Kitty Jone's was third with Tony Morgan in the sulky. Quarter times were :26.3, :55, and 1:23.3.

In the $102,000 Maywood Pace Final Coldheartedrevenge scored a mild upset with Andy Miller at the lines, younger brother of trainer Erv. Andy piloted the Art's Conquest colt to a 1:53.2 clocking after four of the eight starters went off stride.

ML's Boy took the early lead, and set the pace through fraction of :26.3, :55.3 and 1:24.1.  Just past the first quarter favored Enemy At The Gate broke stride, and soon after Gar ran at the three-quarters. Rounding the final turn the pace-setting ML's Boy made a nasty break  and faded quickly to eighth. Coldheartedrevenge took advantage of the situation, and paced to on to a neck victory over Hot Bet (Pat Berry).

"The breaks in here by most of the favorites certainly helped our cause," Andy said. "I thought if this horse was able to get away from the gate in good shape that he'd have a shot to win this. Tony's (Morgan with ML's Boy) looked pretty rough the whole mile and when he went off stride, it just made things easier on us. This colt will probably stick to mostly Illinios-bred stakes this year."

Coldheartedrevenge is owned by Dan Waxman of Ontario and pushed his seasonal earnings to $53,886 and his lifetime bankroll to $76,516 with the victory, his first of the year in four tries and his third lifetime victory in  nine starts.
