Three Big Race Friday Night at Maywood

Sneaky B Skipalong captured the $100,000 Maywood Park Friday night in rein
to veteran Dale Hiteman, clocked in 1:52.

Friday night's $100,000 Maywood Pace championship for state bred three-year-old colts and geldings saw 1-9 favorite Home Bed Advantage bested by Sneaky B Skipper in 1:52.

Pushed from start to finish, Home Bed Advantage-the fastest two-year-old pacer (1:50.1) in the sports history-was overtaken by the 20-1 longshot Sneaky B Skipper, nicely handled by driver Dale Hiteman. The Nelson Willis trained winner nailed the heavy public's choice in deep stretch.

Sneaky B Skipalong is owned by Brandy Pinske Stables (Crete, IL) and Cynthia Kay Willis (Beecher, IL).

"Sneak B Skipalong really impressed me here tonight," said winning driver Dale Hiteman. "His first start of the year was two starts back, and it was his first ever on this oval and he showed he could race here well. Last week, in the elimination, his hobbles were a little loose and he took a bad step and made a break. Tonight, I had him three-wide and he just kept on coming and coming. He was really strong."

Sportsfancy
Sportsfancy strides out to win the Maywood Filly Pace Friday night at Maywood.

Sportsfancy won the $100,000 Maywood Filly Pace in 1:54.2 for Ryan Anderson.

"Sportsfancy is just an awesome filly," Anderson said. "She's probably the best 3-year-old filly out there right now. There's not much that can touch her right now. She's very handy and won this race tonight very easily."

The victory was Sportsfancy's fifth in a row for HBH Standardbreds (Bonnie and Joy Hutchinson and trainer Homer Hochstetler). The $50,000 winner's share of the purse propelled Sportsman's second season earnings to $92,880. After 22 career starts the filly has pulled down $227,078.

Thisbigdogwilfight
Thisbigdogwilfight & Dave Magee Capture the $40,000 Cook County Stake
Friday night at Maywood Park
.

With Hall of Fame driver Dave Magee at his lines, Thisbigdogwilfight became the second fastest horse in Maywood Park's long 61 year history when he sped to a 1:50.3 clocking in the $40,000 Cook County Stake for ICF pacers age three and up. The time was a new track record for a 4-year-old pacing gelding.

"This horse just went around this track very casually tonight," said winning driver Dave Magee. "He did it very easily and I knew we were kind of smoking out there but it just didn't matter to him. He just kept grinding it out."

Thisbigdogwilfight now sports a season record of 8 wins and 2 thirds in 12 starts with earnings of $99,068 for his owners Redbud Stable (Frankfort, IL) and Michael McNeely (Normal, IL).
