Big Upset in Matt's Scooter Final

Pownal Bay Matt used a come-from-behind effort to score a huge upset in the $106,100 Matt's Scooter Final Friday night at The Meadowlands. The three-year-old son of Matt's Scooter stopped the timer in 1:51.2, and returned $66.00 on a $2 win ticket with Daniel Dube in the sulky. Pownal Bay Matt is trained by David Pinkney Jr for F. Ian Smith of Charlottetown, PEI and had $12,863 in lifetime earnings prior to this victory.

“His last two races were good,” said Dube. “Coming into the race, I would be happy with a check, but now I get a big one. I was last at the top of the stretch. The fractions set by Fox Valley Appeal were good for me.”
