Matt Scooter divisions at The Big M Friday

Bono Bests extended his winning streak to four and Cactus Creek pulled off an upset in their respective $16,000 divisions of the second round of the Matt’s Scooter Series, all on Friday night at the Meadowlands.
In the first division of the Matt’s Scooter Bono Bests took the lead before the half and coasted to a length and three-quarter victory over Menno Boy in a lifetime best of 1:51.3 for the mile. Real Mean Art finished two and three-quarter lengths back in third. The winner of the Count B Series Final at Woodbine, Bono Bests victory was his fourth in a row. The three-year-old son of Pro Bono Best – Armbro Tussie now has six wins in eight starts this year and 10 in 14 lifetime efforts. Driven by David Miller and trained by Randy Beekman, Bono Bests is owned by his breeder, Ivan Sugg of Deshler, Ohio, who sold a share to Blue Chip Partners of Wallkill, New York, this past January. The half-brother to Presidential winner Hop Sing is closing in on $100,000 in career earnings.
Cactus Creek, driven by George Brennan, fired to the lead off the turn for home and held on for a three-quarter-length victory over Fox Valley Cruise in the second division. Pownal Bay Matt was third by a length and a half. Cactus Creek, trained by Joe Holloway, paced the mile in 1:52.1, a career best. The son of Artsplace- Cactus Flower posted his second win with three seconds in seven starts this year. Lifetime, he has three wins, four seconds and two thirds from 13 starts. Bred and owned by Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky; Val D’Or Farms of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, and Stan Friedman of West New York, New Jersey.
The Top 10 money earners in the Matt’s Scooter preliminary legs advance to the $106,100 final on March 24.
