Matriarch Pace Debuts at Big M on Mother's Day

A new stakes for free for all pacing mares will debut on Mother’s Day at the Meadowlands. The Hanover Shoe--britstud.com Matriarch Pace will feature a purse estimated at $100,000 and the winner will receive a bonus--the choice of a breeding from among three of the sport’s premier pacing stallions: Artsplace, Cam’s Card Shark & Western Ideal.
The Matriarch joins the third edition of the $75,000 Thomas Strada Memorial Invitational Pace on Saturday, April 22 and the second edition of the $100,000 est. Perretti Matchmaker Trot on Friday, July 14 as part of the Meadowlands’ commitment to provide showcases for the highly competitive mares divisions. The Matriarch, on Sunday, May 12, will offer $75,000 in added money. The starting fee is $2,500.
Cam’s Card Shark and Western Ideal stand at Hanover Shoe Farms’ stallion station in Lambertville and Artsplace, managed by britstud.com, stands at Southwind Farms in Pennington.
Artsplace’s sons and daughters have earned more than $108 million and include such accomplished performers as Art Major, Worldly Beauty, Modern Art and Glowing Report. He stands for $12,500.
Cam’s Card Shark’s progeny have banked $61 million and include seven millionaires: Bettor’s Delight, Four Starzzz Shark, Royalflush Hanover, Village Jolt, Timesareachanging, Holborn Hanover and Riverboat King. He stands for a fee of $12,000.
Western Ideal, sire of 2005 Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover, stands for a fee of $25,000. From two crops racing, his offspring have banked nearly $10 million. In addition to Rocknroll Hanover, they include American Ideal, Cabrini Hanover, Western Ace, Palone Ranger, Dawn Ofa New Day, Ideal News and Thereal Ideal.
