Manzi Out of Action
May 24, 2007
After driving in the first race, Hall of Famer Cat Manzi took himself off the rest of his assignments on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands due to an injured rib. Manzi was clipped in the ribs during the twelfth race last Saturday, May 19, at the Meadowlands when his horse, Grand Place, went off stride and interfered with other horses.
"I think I may have a cracked a rib in that race and I plan to go for an x-ray tomorrow morning," Manzi said. "I did not realize at the time how much it hurt because I was taking pain medication for my back."
The injury is Manzi's second in two weeks. He had just returned to driving on May 18 after severe back pain, stemming from a spill at Yonkers Raceway on May 7, forced to miss nearly a week of racing.
