MacDonald Injured at Woodbine Monday

December 18, 2006

Driver Mark MacDonald was forced to book off his final three drives at Woodbine Racetrack on Monday night after suffering a leg injury prior to the start of Race 8. The 28-year-old reinsman was lining up behind the starting gate with trotter Amiee Sue Rose when one of his driving lines broke. With the wings of the starting gate still extended and a recall quickly signaled, Amiee Sue Rose shot sideways behind the gate and got tangled up in the racebike of another horse. It was reported that during the mix-up Amiee Sue Rose kicked MacDonald below the knee. The blow didn't break the skin, but it did send him hobbling off the track on one leg. MacDonald, who was tended to by Parkview paramedics, was advised to seek further medical attention.
