Records Fall in Matron

Little Miss Dragon rebounded from her second-place finish in the Breeders Crown by winning her Matron Stakes elim in 1:52.2, setting the world record for two-year-old filly pacers on a five-eighths of a mile track. The previous mark of 1:52.3 was shared by four horses: Odie’s Fame (1998), Gordon’s Jin Ms (2002), Armbro Dancer (2005) and My Little Dragon (2005). Little Miss Dragon has won four of seven races and earned $253,503 for the Adam Victor & Son Stable. Adrian Chip set the world record for two-year-old male trotters by winning his Matron elim in 1:55.3 on Saturday. He broke the record of 1:56 set by Here Comes Herbie at Pocono Downs in 2005. Adrian Chip has won five of eight races and earned $109,628. He was coming off a third-place finish in the Breeders Crown.
The Matron finals for two-year-old trotters and pacers will be held Saturday at Dover Downs. The finals for three-year-olds are Sunday. Other finalists include world champion Queen Serene in the race for three-year-old filly trotters, Sweetheart winner Isabella Blue Chip in the event for two-year-old filly pacers, and My Little Dragon in the event for three-year-old filly pacers.
