Litigator and driver Andy Miller used a perfect two-hole trip to nab the $50,000 Cardinal Stake for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings Wednesday night at Maywood Park. The freshman son of Valley Victor stopped the timer in 2:02.2 in the ICF stake.

"I felt really confident with Andy (Miller) driving this horse tonight," trainer Roger Welch noted. "I just told Andy before the race that I thought he had the best horse in the race and that he should use the post to his advantage, which he did. I had brought this gelding down to Maywood to train a week ago, to make sure he could get around the turns ok, and he did great. I trained him in 2:03, so I knew he'd be ok in here."

Litigator is owned by breeder Philip Rietveld of Crete, Illinois and now has a 3-2-2 record from 11 starts this year and $56,701 in career earnings.
