Lis Mara Takes Des Smith Classic

Lis Mara paced to a powerful wire-to-wire 1:49.3 victory in the $181,250 Des Smith Classic for older pacers at Rideau Carleton Raceway Sunday night. Brian Sears drove the four-year-old son of Cambest for trainer Erv Miller. The victory was the ninth of the season for Lis Mara in 15 starts and pushed his seasonal bankroll to just under $1-million.

Mjg Racing Stables Inc. of New Jersey and Louis Willinger of Kentucky own the pacer.
